Also to show that teenager's can put their guards down to anyone . The cover lines, selling line,  and the date line would be at the left corner of the page, however the bar code is at the right bottom corner. the mast head is spread across the top of the magazine. i also added annotation on the sides, off the magazine.

This magazine is used to build up teenagers confidence, and let them stand out of the crowd. The main image is spread across the whole magazine, it is of a teenage student posing leaning forward next to a tree with batches. in doing this it would put my point across that teenagers do not need to hid in the crowd. Also to show that teenager's can be independent hard workers if they have faith in themselves. Likewise the 'c' in the masthead is slightly lower than the other letters, in doing this i used that 'c' to write confidence, because confidence is the key to success. The cover lines are at both sides of the magazine, whereas the date and selling line is at the right top hand cover of the magazine with a line under it spreading it from the masthead. However the bar code is at the right bottom corner. the mast head is spread across the top of the magazine.

He is posed in a very intimidating way as he gazes directly at the camera expressing his wealth by applying a lot of jewellery on, grabbing the audience attention. This could also relate to his style of music as a lot of rappers tend to expose their wealth in different forms. Through his non-verbal communication it could gives a vibe of higher class, authority and respect as the jewellery says it all. Likewise he isn’t wearing any clothes apart from his jewellery.

target audience

The unexpected reader: Joan is 18 and is a passionate music fan and makeup artist who is determined to increase her knowledge in fashion and music.  As a female she is inspired by music video which included a combination of music, costumes and makeup which falls into the category of fashion. She has a keen interest in r’n’b, hip hop and contemporary music so she is quite optimistic.
Joan is a full time student who studies fashion, and photography A2. She works part time as a make up artist which at times interferes with her education. In her spare time she sings and records in a studio, her inspiration is Jessie j as she has a modern twist to her dress style which is quite funky. She lives with her mum who is a single parent who also inspired her to be independent as a learner and as an artist. She loves reading the unexpected magazine, as it increases her knowledge in music and fashion designing. Whereas builds up her confidents as it hits the areas where she needs support in more.
I could develop my magazine by adding r’n’b , hip hop and contemporary music however I could also add a controversial colour to my magazine. Relating to her personality likewise I could add fashion related topics to my magazine giving her a sense, that all the areas she is interested in is in the magazine. In doing this my goal is to have regular costumer such as Joan. Another way in attracting Joan to this magazine is by adding positive inspirational quotes from her inspirations relating to her.

music magazine analysis 3

The magazine cover composes mixture dark and dull colours in the photograph.  The artist is directly looking at the camera; it is a medium long shot showing from her knees to her head. The background of the photograph is white, also her vest. This lets the subject stand out from the background. The photograph is spread across the whole of the magazine cover; likewise the artist head and arm in the photograph is slightly overlapping the masthead. All the cover lines are placed over the photograph of the women. However the name of the artist is big, bold and sharp in the corner. The cover lines in black are names of celebrities and headlines, there is a quote used to excite the audience “Keyshia Cole talks …” There is a barcode at the bottom corner. There is also a selling line at the top of the magazine saying “illest men’s magazine”.

Masthead:
King masthead is simple: black, bold, sharp text. The font used is a serif font; the font is very similar to scratch magazine. King magazine published by Harris Publications, and was a spin-off from XXL. King magazine is a music, sport, fashion and entertainment magazine purely for a male audience. The word King has a lot of definition to it as its stands for “a male sovereign or monarch; a man who holds by life tenure, and usu. by hereditary right, the chief authority over a country and people”. In this case it is indicated that men have power over women.

Character:
The cover photograph is of a successful American singer ‘Keyshia Myeshia Cole-Gibson’.

Composition:
She has a sexual look to her as her facial expressions shows it all. She gazes directly at the camera with her mouth open, with one arm on her waist and the other on her thigh, grabbing the male audience attention. Her posture show’s her sexual side just by her non-verbal communication and lack of clothes.

Costume:
Her clothing, she has a low cut white round-neck vest top showing her arms and her breast full cleavage, she is wearing two chains across her neck and a diamond love heart as his pendent, the love heart could be symbolic to her love life.

Artist mentioned on cover lines keyshia Cole, basket ball player mentioned is Paul Chris, and model Tahiry. From what I can tell by the cover lines, king magazine focuses on female artists to advertise the front cover of the magazine.

Target audience:
Considering all of these points, the targeted audience would be mostly be (male) as the photograph is very sexual, and seductive, also at the top of the magazine it indicates what kind of audience the magazine it designed for. King magazine is geared toward African American and urban audiences. I think the age range for the magazine would be 25-40 because adults age 25 and above find it appealing and attractive when ladies or gents pose in a very sexual way to advertise a product.

music magazine analysis 2

Denotation:
The magazine cover consists of a mixture of dark and light colours in the photograph.  The woman is directly looking at the camera; it is a medium shot showing from her waist to her head. It seems to me that she is standing up as her posture is straight. The background of the photograph is black blending in with her cardigan. The photograph covers the whole of the magazine cover; likewise the woman’s hair in the photograph is slightly overlapping the masthead. In front of the photograph are three separate cover-lines in red, on the other side there is a lot of names of famous individuals and groups in white, however they have the women in the photographs name really big and sharp in the centre of the magazine cover in red.  It seems to me that Madonna is the star of the magazine as the magazine says “all interview Madonna”. There is a selling line just under the barcode, we the audience can identify the cultural background just by looking at the selling line as it has an English flag. There is also an advertisement at the bottom of the magazine.
Masthead:
Q masthead is very distinctive: red background and white a letter representing the magazine. The font used is a serif font; it is similar to Rolling Stone. The founder of Q magazine is Mark Ellen and David Hepworth, Q was first published in October 1986 and it was originally called Cue (as in the sense of cueing a record, ready to play), but the name was changed so that it wouldn't be mistaken for a snooker magazine. Another reason, cited in Q's 200th edition, is that a single-letter title would be more prominent on newsstands. The magazine ‘Q’ show’s its individuality by using one letter that conveys a lot of structure and purpose of the magazine. Q magazine conjoins a lot of qualities that the readers are looking for, such as fashion, music, and comedy.

Character:
The cover photograph is of a successful American singer-songwriter, actress and entrepreneur ‘Madonna Louise Ciccone’.

Composition:
She had fierce but yet an approachable look to her, as she is posed very fierce way as she gazes directly at the camera grabbing on tight to her cardigan with her mouth open showing a little bit of teeth. She shows her serious side likewise in my eyes the way she is dresses suppose that she is a dancer.
Costume:
Her clothing, she has on a sparkling glove that is cut out to expose two of her fingers,  she has a black shiny cloak to me it looks like shiny polyester- satin, the lining of the hood is grey with same material as the cloak. This clothing was smartly and purposely chosen to appeal the targeted audience as it has a rich and elegant look to it.

NVC:
Her non-verbal communication is very seductive as her mouth is open this sends an approachable, and welcoming message and vibe to the magazine, this is given off without her even a written or verbal speech.

This could relate to everyone as it has a variety of options to read from. Artist mentioned on cover lines include Madonna, Michael Stipe, Russell Brand, Kaiser chiefs, Girls Aloud, Mighty Boosh, Ian Brown, little Britain, arctic monkeys, and Robert plant . It also introduces another mainstream magazine label “rolling stone”. The magazine combines English and America artist. The font is in sans-serif font. The use of the colour red, emphasis energetic it could also could be symbolic to seriousness. However I feel the maker’s of ‘Q’ magazine intended to do this to relate to the buyers.

Target audience:
Considering all if these points, the likely target audience would be people ( male and female) aged 16-30, because teenagers and above have more knowledge in politics, and music  as they have a wide range of musical styles, and are more open with their opinions. This magazine shows an interest in pop, rock, indie, and also comedy and entertainment.

From what I can see the setting would be most likely to be in a studio, as I am aware that the background is grey.
Cover-lines:
The different cover lines tells us that this magazine doesn’t concentrates on just one genre of music, but draws references to celebrity’s life’s. “I literally almost died” this indicates that vibe magazine not only involves themselves in music but also involves themselves with celebrity’s life. Artist mentioned on cover lines include lil Wayne, drake, Eminem, young money, jay-z, T.I, Swagga jack, Kanye west, Asher Roth, Gucci mane, kid Cudi, Pac div, and Clipse.
